The television show Pinks All Out was at Tucson International Raceway November 16 and 17, 2007. The Supercharger Store took the little 406 cubic inch Hemi Duster for display but made a couple of exhibition passes in order to get people's attention. These passes ended up being some of the fastest of the 452 cars present. Unexpectedly Pinks announced they thought it would be fun to race the 8 quickest cars for a chance at a $8,000 NAPA Toolbox with Tools. After some very close competition the Duster came out on top and took home the prize. Best pass 7.98 seconds at 171 mph.
The Duster had the smallest engine, smallest tires and the worst weight to cubic inch ratio of all 8 competitors but walked away with the gold anyway. It eliminated one Roots Blown big inch, one Screw Blown big inch and one Nitrous big inch motored cars in competition. It's advantage, a Procharger F-3 and Gear Drive from The Supercharger Store!!!
This Hemi Duster is owned by Terry Woods of The Supercharger Store in Huachuca City, Arizona. It is powered by a 406 cubic inch (.030 over) 400 B low deck Chrysler with Stage V Hemi conversion heads. Compression is just shy of 8.00 to 1 and a Comp solid roller cam with .736 lift on the intake and .680 on the exhaust is utilized. The electronic fuel injection is from High Performance Controls and is called MFI, meaning Methanol Fuel Injection. The MFI is a very simple system using only two inputs, manifold pressure [boost] and rpm and it works like a champ.
As can be seen in the photos the Duster uses one of The Supercharger Store's proprietary Gear Drives powering a ProCharger F-3C Supercharger. Currently Methanol is being used as the fuel but plans call for testing with E-85 and pump gasoline in the future.
On only the sixth pass down the track in Tucson, Arizona, at 3000+ feet altitude, this little Duster dipped into the sevens at 7.98 seconds at 173 mph. This little Hemi has a lot left in it at this point but we plan to take the development forward "slow and easy".
This Hemi Duster was professionally built by Goal 45 Motorsports in Huachuca City, Arizona and is built and certified to meet SFI 25.1E Chassis specs meaning it is certified down to 6.00 seconds. It uses a unique double wishbone front suspension that is ride height adjustable with no change required in geometry to maintain bump steer, toe, caster or camber correctness and it has anti-dive built in as well for high speed stability and constant ride height during hard braking. The rear suspension is traditional four link and a full floating 9.00 inch Strange Engineering .
rear-end is used with 3.89 Pro gearing. A Neal Chance bolt together converter is coupled to a Rossler 210 three speed transmission in order to transmit the power from the little Hemi to the 9.00 inch rear. We fully expect to record 1 teens 60 foot times and mid 7.00 second elapsed times on the currently equipped true 10.5 tires. Best 60 foot recorded in the first 6 runs is 1.22 seconds.
